IMU-Based Respiratory Signal Processing Using Cascade Complementary Filter Method

The purpose of this paper is to propose a cascade complementary filter (CCF) for tracking abdominal or diaphragmatic movement induced by respiratory activity. An inertial sensor (3 DOF accelerometer and 3 gyroscope) mounted on the upper abdomen, allowing tilt value abdomen be measured. CCF aimed at overcoming limitations linear CF method online gyroscope estimation. Our proposed algorithm compensates bias with nonlinear then fuses it angle obtain inclination. performed better than in terms rate error. While increased estimation accuracy, also appeared independent attitude parameters. frequency signal remained steady between 0.2 Hz 0.4 throughout experiment, mean 0.29 Hz. In other words, results range 12 24 breaths per minute, which considered normal 17 minute.
